How to get started
- Open a supported comic or manga file from a connected catalog or import a file you are entitled to read.
- The reader opens on the full page. Use the Panel Mode control to switch to panel-by-panel reading.
- Choose right-to-left manga reading when appropriate for the work.
- For CBZ and comic-shaped MOBI files, try the available preview; full reading requires Sutra Pro.
Important limitations
- Panel detection is not guaranteed to identify every panel or every page correctly. Pages without detected panels remain readable as full pages.
- Full CBZ and DRM-free MOBI reading require Pro; the limited preview does not make the full format free.
- CBR archives and DRM-protected purchases are not supported.

Does Sutra automatically detect comic panels?
Sutra detects panel layouts on supported comic pages, but no detector is perfect for every artwork. Pages without detected panels remain available in full-page reading.
Is panel-by-panel reading free?
Panel Mode is available without a Pro purchase. File-format entitlements still apply: full CBZ and DRM-free MOBI reading require Pro, while EPUB and PDF reading are free.
Can Sutra read manga right to left?
Yes, Sutra offers right-to-left reading for supported content on iOS and Android.
Can I read CBR comics or DRM-protected Kindle purchases?
No. CBR archives and DRM-protected Kindle purchases are not supported. Sutra is for files you have the right to read without DRM.
Can I try CBZ before buying Pro?
A limited CBZ preview may be available. Full CBZ reading requires Sutra Pro; see the current app for its preview scope.
